That's right. The Cherub has flown. Strolled off casual as you like, no glance back, straight through security at Edinburgh International Airport.
On his own..
He has gone to see family in Dublin.
I get to stay home with the Nedster.
There's something wrong with this deal..
And it's not just that his passport photo dates back to 2006...

That must be so weird for you.
My sympathies, if I don't have Boy around the house I breathe a sigh of relief and then rattle around like a roulette ball.

Roses - I am considering going up to his room, and switching on the XBox and music machine just so I can pretend he's still in there....

Party!!!

I'm glad the Cherub got to go to Dooblin, I'm sorry that you didn't, and your headline scared the hell out of me.
5 January 2011 at 04:54
Oh no, he's growing up---next there will be girls lining up.
And now you have time for a drink at the club with the old bloke---and if he knows the cherub is away, he might come knocking on the door-----sick him Ned

AW, the boy's becoming a ....sniff....man. :) I'm sure he feels all grown up and awesome too.
So while the cat's away will the mouse be playing hard and if so can I come? I'll bring the black bun and the whisky, you just BRING IT.

Mr Musgrove - Tsk... it's a School Night!
Charlie - False alarm! No I've still got the beloved XBox. He'll be back!
Clyde - So far I've managed to successfully avoid Old Mac for the whole of this year..long may it continue..
Ms Veg - Yeah... the cherub probably spends a lot of his time wondering how his head came to be so close to the ceiling in the past four months..
Hmmm maybe a wee quiet party so Old Mac doesn't find out....

I will come and stay with you. I like playing on the X-box.
Sx

Oh he looks so young but this is good practice for when he leaves home. They do eventually and it's quite hard. Make the most of him - I'm sure you do.
5 January 2011 at 15:16
I'm wondering what an X-box is?
5 January 2011 at 19:23
Scarlet - Yay! We can play online and everything here. Though I'm still technically shit at camera angles...
Pat - I think it's the premonition of one day the empty house being for real that's the worst.
PS What's an X-Box??? Seriously??? Er it's the gaming platform of choice for Serious Gamers (like Scarlet and me...hem hem). You graduate from the Wii and PS3...
5 January 2011 at 19:50
Well done both of you...you for being so casual and cool about him going off alone and him for being cool and casual and going off alone....but you will still miss each other....enjoy your together time while you can.

I've been known to lose days on Oblivion on the Xbox.
All Boy needs to tell me is if there are tanks. I like blowing stuff up from a tank. It's very therapeutic.
6 January 2011 at 18:51
Libby - I reckon I have four more years, maximum before the boy finally takes off only to return on high days and holidays...
Roses - Tanks sound great. But for real lost days have you tried playing poker on Red Dead Redemption?
6 January 2011 at 20:39
So how's Cherub getting on in Dublin? Having a whale of a time, I bet.
I'm an X-Box virgin too. Not my cup of tea. I like bananas though.
7 January 2011 at 13:43
No, Boy doesn't have that game.
Hmm...I think he just might have to get it though.
9 January 2011 at 12:53
Roses - Indeedy. The main character looks not unlike a dark haired Daniel Craig.
Is this getting strange yet???
10 January 2011 at 10:09
Not at all.
I thought the Count of Skingrad was very fanciable, even for a vampire.
See, that's why I occasionally worry about me.
