See what happens when you think you know it all? See what happens when you start joking about spending a night at Cheesetown Towers, emptying the gin bottle and belting out classic rock ballads?
See what happens when your blog is open to comments?
Just when you're in the mood for a great big wallow in self pity someone, maybe someone called lx, points out that there's a different version of the tune.
Eh? Yes. It seems that our repressed schoolteacher, Bonnie Tyler, has had another life as a lesbian dog trainer.
Yes you read that right. Although since she is apparently a french speaking lesbian dog trainer something might have got lost in the translation so to speak.
What do we think?
Here's Bonnie as we know her, along with her school chums and assorted pet doves in the middle of a power cut. "Once upon a time she had love in her heart, now she's only falling apart....."
Here's Bonnie rescuing lone hitchhikers and bringing them back to her doggie ranch....I have no idea what they're singing what with it being in French and all
I'm going to canvass opinions here.

Hee hee... everybody loves the puppies!
5 August 2011 at 22:17
Barb - So far! The night is young!
5 August 2011 at 22:34
Bonnie seems to have had a Leslie Ash job on her lips - or lip augmentation as I now know it is called thanks to Google.
Love the way the Mummy dog gives them such a look as if to say, "You two can feed that puppy if you have time to sing, I have my work cut out with the rest"
5 August 2011 at 22:43
I always vote for puppies.
5 August 2011 at 23:20
Absolutely not! Gah! No French! No puppies! Definitely no puppies!
If I wanted cute, I'd have got a Hallmark card.
Bleugh.

I am not allowed to view the first video! Is it naughty?
6 August 2011 at 00:25
Mrs Rine - I think the second video may also be the first instance I've seen of a diva singing whilst brandishing a mug.
Beckeye - ONE vote only mind...
Roses - Yep. I had you pinned as an old school type...
lx - Yes. It features adolescent boys, half naked with their shirts blowing off, or wet.
And doves.
But mainly boys.

I'm not allowed to see any video here. Must be dangerous smut. I do not want to imagine what these people do to puppies. Especially when looking at Norma's puppies.
LX bought a box, Roses made a will and Scarlett spits blood. I'll have a last beer.
(wv: twitabu - fitting!)

Hmm, listening without watching the clips, I have to go old school---but watching the clips without sound, I cant vote for school boys---puppies and a nice looking young girl just has to win.
If bonnie does have another life, I couldn't help but think --Has anyone seen Bonnie and Rod Stewart in the same room----
But over all, a night at the towers with a nice bottle, sounds like a good thing
6 August 2011 at 07:59
Oh dear, how dull. I seem to have voted with the majority. Still, it's hard to go wrong with a decent couple of puppies, isn't it?
6 August 2011 at 08:51
I did an OU course years ago where I had to write a musicla analysis of Total Eclipse... so I can't bear to listen. But I prefer the version with the dogs.

...Christ, she's going to suffocate that puppy if she presses it any closer to her chest...

In French it seems to lose its gutsiness. Too refained by half.
6 August 2011 at 12:02
Damn, I'm getting predictable.
But it's the cuteness of it all which I can't abide.
I'm curious about the analysis Ms Scarlet would have done on the original.
6 August 2011 at 12:03
I've probably got it in a file somewhere... but let's not go there!

I like puppies, but then again I like a good metaphor. Tough decision. If she's a lesbian, I wonder why she's been married to Robert Sullivan for almost 40 years! I'd say what you see is what you get.
6 August 2011 at 14:50
63mago - Love the link! Off to petition Norma for a puppy webcam.
Sorry about the legal restrictions on links...
Clyde - But you only have one vote. See how tough life gets!
Maybe I should compare and contrast a Bonnie video with a Rod one next...
Dave - You wouldn't be the first to say that.
Scarlet - You did what??? My essay contrasting MacBeth with Crossroads got marked down severely.
Pat - I like to think they were trying not to scare the puppies.
Roses - It's the need for subtitles that's bugging me.
Scarlet - No really! we all want to go there
Nick - Don't worry in real life she's not called Bonnie either... the problem with her latest life development is all in the ethernet.

Is that a lesbian trainer of dogs or a lesbian trainer of dogs? I could translate it for you but I can't be arsed. I'm all Frenched out at the moment. Poor Bonnie, I had no idea she had a stroke or at least that's the only explanation I can find for her bizarre prononciation of 'je tourne en rond'. Her biatch is Kareen Antonn, just in case you care. This song was big when we moved to France. Is it any wonder we didn't stay!
6 August 2011 at 21:39
How weird, for some reason I was signed into my old French blog account. It must have recognised a dodgy French pop song. I can point you in the direction of a version without puppies if you like
7 August 2011 at 08:04
My french is very rusty but I did pick up the word cheese now and again........
7 August 2011 at 14:34
Fortunately I am fluent in French (with the aid of my dictionary) so I can tell you that the main part of the song (after that I spent so long looking at her puppies) goes something like this:
And I require your support this evening and I require you more than ever and if you are only going to detain me gripped that we are going to be kept for ever and we are straight going to be made it talk. Make a mistake to us never together, we can take at the end of the ruler your love is as a shade on me at all times I do not know what to make and I am always in darkness. We live in a barrel of powder and sparks. I really require you this evening. Eternity is a small frog. To start this late afternoon for ever is small frog to start this twilight.
I hope this helps.
7 August 2011 at 15:52
First of all, I didn't know that there were such things as lesbian dogs, let alone French-speaking ones!
7 August 2011 at 15:56
PS. There is no second of all, but I wish I had some Seconal after viewing both videos.
7 August 2011 at 19:32
Thank you Dave; it all makes waay more sense now.
7 August 2011 at 19:39
I do my best - or as the French would say, je fais tout le possible.
7 August 2011 at 22:00
Previously Lost Wylye Girl - How's that for a new moniker! And how spooky is Google?? They know not only who you think you are, but Who You Used To Be.
Libby - Although I did at first think CHEESE, Dave has elucidated further....
Dave - This may be the definitive translation. And if we take nothing else away from this exercise, let it be that Eternity is a small frog
Louciao - I hope the seconal helps. You may need this in contemplating that eternity is a small frog....
Speccy - Yes that noise in the background is the froglet of eternity...
Dave - Being in darkness I also did not know what to make before the froglet of eternity

Where are you Macy? Has a small frog stolen your heart?

Wonderful! Awesome!
