How are
you? Long time hey?...I'll cut to the chase. I've been having this problem with
keeping my blog up to date. It's not just a sloth thing, it's a things changing
so fast lately thing. Look one minute I'm in London, stumbling on the Avengers
European Premiere by accident. That was me in Westfield shopping centre,
hanging around to see a tiny wee redhead (SCARLETT JOHANSSON) on a red
carpet, and noticing that other people five feet away in Nandos were more interested in finishing their chicken dinners than looking up to watch out for Robert Downey Junior. And then before I
can blog about all this... the Aged Mother is scheduled to have her leg
amputated.
Can you
see the problem here?
A wee
dissonance in tone, non?
I can't
blog in arrears... I need to be able to blog in real time.... And, look here's
where you come in. I need an iPad. With an iPad /I can blog real time, I can
take photos and post immediately. Hey, I could also take it into hospital
and entertain the Aged Parent. Because they don't have tv's in the
cardiovascular ward, and frankly my small talk is expiring fast.
What do
you think?
Or what
about you just give me magic powers for the day and I turn back time or
something?
Thoughts???
Kisses!!
Macy
xxxx
PS I've
been good.
Dear Macy
Thank you
for your interest in the work of the Wishes Fairy. Unfortunately under the
terms of her current Service Level Agreement the Wishes Fairy caters for small
girls aged 7 and under and wishes are limited to non-material goods.
Failing
as you do to meet these criteria, you may find it helpful to refer to a
religious body in a form of prayer more suitable to your age.
With best
wishes for the future
The
Bureaucratic Fairy.

Your mama has to have her leg amputated? Oh honey, I'm so sorry to hear that.
But what's this about you seeing my RDJ in London? Was he looking hot?
As for the iPad, honey, sometimes that's what a credit card is for...and given your current circumstances, honey do it!
28 April 2012 at 11:14
Roses - Your RDJ was looking tired. And avoiding my eye which was most suspicious....
28 April 2012 at 11:28
Oh dear. That all sounds a bit of a handful.
On a further negative not, I'd suggest that blogging is as easy and immediate on a iPhone as an iPad and you could take your Ma a Broons Annual and People's Friend to look at with no battery worries.
There, I've just saved you 400 quid. No, don't thank me....
28 April 2012 at 11:44
No eee!! I've tried it and the iphone has wee teeny tiny keys, and it takes me ages to plink out a badly spellt messige on it.
And there's an app and it defeatrs mi....
28 April 2012 at 13:12
Sorry to hear about your Mum.
Totally with you on the iPad idea... I'm also having problems keping up with blogging - lurking is easy on an Android, but difficult to join in.
I'm considering the Samsung Galaxy.

I popped in to see whether you'd returned from your holiday, and then I read about your mother. As we'd say in Japanese: Ganbare! That means be strong, hang in there, persevere, etc.
PS: I think you should a) get an iPad and b) share a whiskey with the wisteria. :)
28 April 2012 at 15:36
Best wishes to your Mom.
Bureaucratic Fairy is dishing out bad advice. I was a Southern Baptist for 16 years and didn't get an iPad.
28 April 2012 at 16:26
I do have an iPad but don't know how to blog on it. Hmmm.
So sorry about your mum having to have an amputation, Macy. xx
28 April 2012 at 19:10
On a cost per use basis I'm sure an iPad would be great value :)
You need to do what keeps you sane; if that's a fancy gizmo, then it's a fancy gizmo. I bought a very expensive handbag in between hospital visits and running panics. I didn't need it, but it did me the world of good. Luckily, I use it all the time...
Sorry to read of the amputation. Nothing easy, pet.
28 April 2012 at 21:05
My sister has just got herself an iPad, and she already loves it to bits (well, not literally). She does not blog, however, but loves being able to loll around on the settee, reading and writing emails etc. without having to sit properly on a chair at her desk.
28 April 2012 at 23:00
When I was in India, I discovered that all the mothers are being bought iPads by their children. I was a bit gutted frankly, having had to buy my own.
It's brilliant, however. Just do it, you won't regret it. Don't go for the cheapest though, you'll whizz through its capacity in no time. The extra memory is worth the money.
So sorry about your mother. I hope that she'll recover quickly, after all if the leg is infected then it's poisoning her whole body.
29 April 2012 at 09:23
Oh Macy, so sorry about your ma and I know that you have been good and so I am wishing that mother universe or the fates will send you something good...but help yourself and buy an ipad....it will be money well spent.
29 April 2012 at 09:25
I'm so sorry to hear about your mother. This situation is such a strain, jeez. I think you should try to keep blogging when you can, because not only do your posts make me laugh (I LOVE the Bureaucratic fairy) but it is probably quite a good thing to have something to distract you. Which means, yes, an iPad. I have been thinking of getting one but I alraedy spend too much time online.
29 April 2012 at 18:23
Scarlet - Absolutely, I can lurk with the iPhone, but joining in is difficult.
And lurking is never healthy....
Rarousha - D'ye know, "ganbare" might be the one Japanese word you can easily say with a Glaswegian accent!
LX - Bless. I laughed...I sighed..and mentally crossed off the Southern Baptists from my list of churches to try....
Trish - I need an ipad too, then we can both compare notes with Z who blogs all the time on hers!!
Speccy - I have already bought myself two pairs of shoes.. which seems sadly inappropriate in the circumstances. Shoulda stuck to gadgets
Librarian - This is the sad thing. Everyone who has an ipad seems to love it to bits... which means that there's not many being sold cheap on ebay.
Z - You're bang on about the poison infecting the rest of her body. In practical terms even with her old leg, she was immobile and unable to sleep for pain.
Libby - I shall buy a lottery ticket specially ...
Jenny - Of course maybe the Bureaucratic Fairy is wrong!
I shall wear more pink...

Sorry to hear about your mum losing her leg. Quite a blow. I hope she recovers and adjusts okay.
As for the iPad, I've never understood the appeal of constant communication, I like to stop and think occasionally. But each to her own....
29 April 2012 at 21:08
So sorry to hear of your mum's travails. It will be hard on her but also hard on you. I have an iPad (the Shah's one blast of Christmas gift inspiration in a quarter of a century) and I bloody love it. Spoil yourself - go on, you deserve it.
30 April 2012 at 06:57
Nick - Trouble is ther doesn't seem to be anything between weeks of silence and constant communication with me.
I might be the first person to try using an iPad for moderation...
Curry Queen - Currently perusing eBay in the hope of finding someone who didn't appreciate their ipad..
Of course this would be easier if I had an iPad...

Bit the bullet. Just go for it.
My friend Gee pointed out, that part of the pleasure of buying lovely things, was the experience of purchasing lovely things.
Going to the Apple Store, talking to the ridiculously young staff...in and amongst all the shiny things.
Embrace the experience.
Honey, you work so hard and you've been keeping it together for so long. You have permission to indulge yourself for once. To have something silly that will feel lovely to use, that will enable you to access friends at the drop of a hat, that will keep your mum occupied.
Do it. Go whole hog. Enjoy it.
30 April 2012 at 11:19
So sad your Mum has to lose a leg.
Funny I looked up ipads yesterday but the £400 stopped me in my tracksand I'm not sure I'd be able to benefit from it.
I felt that way about a kindle and now find if a life enhancer.
30 April 2012 at 16:58
Im so so sorry to hear that about your Mum. Know what you mean though, just when I am despairing , something really silly happens. Dissonance in tone is exactly it!
30 April 2012 at 21:32
Roses! - You're not working on a commission from those people at Apple are you????
Pat - I have a feeling I might treat myself...it's only the equivalent of 8 pairs of shoes...
About Last Weekend - You must be working from an iPad!! How else can you comment here and have an open house for thousands???
2 May 2012 at 09:45
Sod the wish fairy she is rubbish anyway....what is wrong with blogging in arrears anyway (it’s not as if someone can repossess your blog for not regularly typing words)...all those damn people who blog every hour (that’s not blogging that’s tweeting).
2 May 2012 at 13:15
BlackLOG - Heh heh. Yep. No chance of hourly updates around here.
Doesn't stop me wanting an iPad though.
3 May 2012 at 11:52
sweet mary sunshine, sugar! i'm reading in arrears just to catch up! what can i say? hugs for you and your mama. get the iPad. having spent many hours in hospital and nursing homes, i know you need it. xoxoxoxox
